	One-Day Defibrillation Course
	Description Cardiac arrest is the biggest killer in this Country. Over 150,000 die as a result. The majority could have been saved if a defibrillator was made available. Automated External Defibrillators (AED's) are now more common throughout a range of workplaces. A Casualty's survival rate will dramatically increase if an AED is available and if you have appropriately qualified personnel to use it. This very practical course will allow suitably qualified First Aid personnel to use the AED competently and with confidence. Not only does this course deal with the use of an AED but also revisits some of the basic first aid skills, including resuscitation.
	Duration A 6-hour course of theory and practical work along with an assessment.
	Syllabus A range of subjects is covered including:- Assessment of the situation Dealing with an unconscious casualty, Resuscitation. Heart attacks, Chain of Survival. AED-safety mesures and AED- its use along with AED maintenance. Scenario traning.
	Certification There is a formal assessment at the start of the day in order to ensure that all students can resuscitate. In addition to this, there is an assessment at the end of the course including the pratical use if the AED. This qualification is valid for 6 Months
	Numbers A maximum of 6 students can be accommodated on this course and must be of a minimum age of 16 years or above.
	Location We are able to deliver this course on your site, subject to a pre-course assessment of your premises, reducing your costs in respect of additional time out and travelling.
